Overview of LALS Courses

As an interdisciplinary major, LALS courses draw from the social sciences, the humanities and the arts concentrating on issues that revolve around:
changing political, social, economic and cultural realities, including immigration and transnational communities; gender, sexual, racial and ethnic identities; social movements; diverse forms of cultural expression; ongoing political and economic restructuring in Latin America; the challenges of political and economic empowerment for Latina/o communities in the United States.

Related Courses
To satisfy language requirements, students are expected to do the recommended preparatory course work to demonstrate proficiency in Spanish equivalent to the completion of Spanish 6 or 56, or Spanish for Spanish Speakers 63.
