Graduating Senior Check

LALS Graduating Seniors - Senior Check

NOTE that the AAR (Academic Advisement Report) is NOT set up for LALS.

Step 1 - Come to the LALS office (Merrill 32) to update your file.  Ask the work-study assistant at the front desk for your worksheet and update it with all courses completed for the major. You can use the computer in the office to check your portal and complete the form accurately. We are open from 9AM-12noon Monday-Friday and 1PM-4PM, Monday-Thursday. Remember that to meet with Alessandra you should come during Advising hours (very encouraged to check-in one last time. "It will be great to see you", AA). If you have questions regarding courses that can be used towards the major, please see the advisor during advising hours.

Step 2 - If you completed the Senior Exit Requirement via creative project, senior thesis or expanded paper (NOT BY taking a senior seminar - 194 course), you have to submit a Senior Exit Requirement Completion Form, signed by your SER advisor to the LALS department. This form is available from the plastic dispenser outside of the LALS office as well.  If you wrote a thesis for your SER, you must additionally provide a bound copy to the department.

Step 3 - "Apply to graduate" on your portal.

Follow the process above, PLUS make sure to check with the other department to make sure you have completed major requirements on that end as well.

Please note the following deadlines (by quarter) to announce candidacy/apply to graduate (via your portal):

Summer 2015: July 31, 2015
Fall 2015: Oct 23, 2015
Winter 2016: Feb 5, 2016
Spring 2016: April 29, 2016

If you applied to graduate, you will be invited to the LALS Pachanga, which takes place at the end of Spring quarter. Please RSVP as we need to know if you are coming.

Also make sure to check with your College about commencement, with El Centro if you want to participate in the Chicano/a and Latino/a Graduation ceremony, and with Cantú Queer Center to participate in the Rainbow Ceremony.

So many celebrations and so many reasons to celebrate!
