LALS Minor Requirements

The minor in Latin American and Latino Studies consists of seven courses.
Knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese is highly recommended, but not required for the minor.

LOWER DIVISION COURSE REQUIREMENTS
TWO LOWER DIVISION ELECTIVES:
LALS 1 - Intro to Latin Ameican and Latino Studies and one other LALS lower division course.
OR two LALS lower division courses (or, any two pre-approved lower div. courses. See pre-approved course list on the course page)

UPPER DIVISION COURSE REQUIREMENTS
ONE CORE COURSE:
LALS 100: Concepts and Theories in LALS - offered only Fall quarter, or
LALS 100A: Social Science Analytics - offered only Winter quarter, or
LALS 100B: Cultural Theory in the Americas - offered only Spring quarter

FOUR UPPER DIVISION ELECTIVES:
4 upper division LALS electives or pre-approved courses (see our course page for pre-approved courses)
To declare the minor you have to have taken any LALS course (completed with a passing grade)  and you are NOT required to attend the major declaration workshop, although you are welcome to. See instructions on the major declaration page.
