LALS MINOR REQUIREMENTS

The minor in Latin American and Latino Studies consists of seven courses, including two lower-division courses (LALS 10, Bridging LALS and one other lower division course) and five upper-division courses (including either LALS 100A or 100B and any four other upper-division courses that count towards the major.). Knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese is highly recommended, but not required for the minor.

Again:

1 - LALS 10
2 - a lower division course (any LALS 80 course or a lower division pre approved by LALS Dept)

3 - 100A (offered only during Winter) OR 100B (offered only during Spring)

4,5,6,7 - 4 upper division electives (see our course page for pre-approved courses)

Students interested in pursuing a minor in LALS should first obtain a "Study Plan/ Declaration of Major - Minor" from their own college office, and make an appointment to, first, declare their major and, second, visit the LALS Office in Merrill College as well as the other department office. Bring the petition with the "General Education" section filled out and signed by your college advisor and the major section filled out by your department advisor to the LALS undergraduate advisor to complete a plan of study.

The LALS department provides the following worksheet(s) as a guide for students who want a LALS minor:
