Applications will be accepted Fall 2024 for a July 1, 2025 start date.
The Department of Latin American and Latino Studies (LALS) is recruiting two UC Santa Cruz Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellows as part of the UC Presidential Postdoctoral Program. The UC Santa Cruz Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellow in LALS will be selected from the pool of applicants who have applied to the University of California President's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program and who have identified mentors in the Department of Latin American and Latino Studies at UC Santa Cruz. Applicants must secure the support of a tenured faculty member in the LALS Department who will serve as their mentor prior to submitting their application.
The Program: The UC Santa Cruz Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in Latin American and Latino Studies is offering postdoctoral research fellowships and faculty mentoring to qualified scholars in the field of Latinx studies whose research advances excellence through a commitment to diversity and scholarly research in Latinx studies and in areas that advance the legacy of civil rights and feminist icon Dolores Huerta. This includes, but is not limited to, studying Latinxs in California, ideally with a focus on the Central Coast and/or Central Valley; labor and labor organizing; migration; social movements; and/or women activists. Fellows will be selected based on their research’s promise for cultivating dialogue, nurturing collaboration, and integrating, synthesizing, and building on materials in the forthcoming Dolores Huerta Papers and/or the Dolores Huerta Foundation Papers (currently in-progress). Selected Fellows advance their own research during the fellowship year; there is no additional teaching or service requirement.
Award and Tenure: The award is for twelve months and renewable for a second year upon demonstration of academic productivity and participation in PPFP events.
Salary and Benefits: The award provides a salary usually starting at Level 0 based on current Postdoc Salary Scales depending on field and experience, benefits including health insurance and paid vacation/sick leave and up to $5,000 for research-related and program expenses. For more information, visit the UC Santa Cruz Chancellor’s Postdoctoral program. The selected Fellow is also eligible for the UC PPFP/CFP Faculty Hiring Incentive.
Eligibility: Applicants must receive a Ph.D. from an accredited university before the start of their fellowship appointment on July 1, 2025.
Due Date: November 1, 2024.
Application Process: All applicants for the UC Santa Cruz Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellowship in Latin American and Latino Studies should submit their application to the University of California President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program.
