What were you doing before you joined LALS?

I recently finished my PhD in Literature at UC Santa Cruz. During my eight years as a graduate student at UC Santa Cruz, I was a Public Fellow with the GLBT Historical Society in San Francisco, where I completed the San Francisco ACT UP Oral History Project. I later worked for The Humanities Institute and UC Humanities Research Center, advising graduate students about research development support and surveying graduate student mentorship programs.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

I spend my weekends around the Bay Area hiking, going to the gym, watching movies, attending readings, and supporting my artist friends. The perfect Saturday (and Sunday) would include pancakes.

What are you looking forward to doing in your new position?

I love working with graduate students, who are often engaged in the most exciting and creative scholarship on campus. I'm looking forward to building community within LALS and across the campus, talking with students about their needs and goals, and helping to make the process of completing the degree easier and more meaningful for all students.

What would you like members of the LALS community to know about you and/or your work?

I understand that the PhD is a great undertaking, and that the right support network can make all the difference. I'm excited to hear from you, and I'm looking forward to working with you to help you make the most of your graduate work at UCSC.
